Providence varsity and JV sweep Corydon 5-0 and 4-0 respectively.
The victory was lead by number 1 singles player junior Stephanie Smith and the number 1 doubles team of senior Emily DiNoto and junior Courtney Smith.
Number 1 doubles won 6-0, 6-1; dropping only the 12th game of the match and then winning the next game to close out the match. The team played really very well together and had many winners. They were the first off the courts.
Stephanie played a strong very positive match. She did a good job placing the ball on the court keeping her opponent constantly on the defensive. She had really strong service games in the first set. She won 6-0, 6-2.
Number 2 doubles won 6-2, 6-1 and played a good match using many of the items in which had been worked on in practice over the past week. Hanna had outstanding service games recording 11 aces.
Junior Sammie Riggs played at the number 3 singles spot and recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory, her first as a varsity player. She was playing in a replacement role in this match. She played a very good match and covered the court very effectively, with solid ground strokes.
Senior Kady Bandy won the final point at second singles. Kady had many long rallies with a girl who could effectively cover the court. She won 6-2, 6-4.
JV players Kristin Simms and Maggie Bremmer normally a doubles team played singles today due to injury of players. Kristin won a close match at 8-6 and Maggie won an even closer match at 9-7. Number 1 doubles players of Kara Garcia and Jessica Stenger won 8-6. The final point was won by Rebecca Garner and Sara Federspiel at 8-4.
