After two days of tennis the Pioneers finished second in the New Albany Invitational behind the host team. While individually the Pioneers did not record any first place finishes as the Bulldogs sweep the tournament they did have two seconds, a third and fourth.
Pete Andres lost in the finals but had a very strong performance in all three of his matches posting wins over Lanesville and Eastern.
Number one doubles of Nick Finn and Andrew Jerdonek won their first two matches beating teams from Clarksville and Scottsburg before falling in the finals to a team from New Albany.
Brendan Popson finished third at second singles winning his first and last match but losing his second match to the number two singles player from New Albany. He defeated players from Charlestown and Lanesville.
Freshman Nolan Carrico had some of the longest matches of the tournament, he lost his first match of the tournament but won the last two to finish 4th. He defeated players from Scottsburg and Clarksville. It was a good effort for the freshman in his first varsity tournament.
Number two doubles of Daniel Becht and Joe Solis won their first match defeating team a team from Eastern, but lost their next two matches.
Overall we had a good effort from all the players.
